Augustin Hadelich and Tchaikovsky

The College of Charleston Orchestra, conducted by Yuriy Bekker, presents a concert headlining renowned Grammy Award-winning violinist Augustin Hadelich in a performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, op. 35. The program also features CofC student Misha Pekar performing the 1st movement of Scriabin's Piano concerto in F sharp minor & opens with Overture to Ruslan and Ludmila by Glinka.

Hadelich was named Musical America's 2018 "Instrumentalist of the Year." After winning the Gold Medal at the 2006 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, concerto & recital appearances on the world's top stages followed. Other distinctions: Avery Fisher Career Grant, a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in the UK, the inaugural Warner Music Prize, a Grammy Award, and an honorary doctorate from the University of Exeter (UK). He was recently appointed to the faculty at Yale University.
