Charleston City Paper and Theatre 99 have teamed up once again to bring laughter and comedic relief to cure the post-holiday blues. January 2019 will mark the 16th annual Charleston Comedy Festival, the premier comedy event of the Southeast.

This year’s event promises to be an even bigger hit than years before with big-name acts—plus more performances, venues, and attendees.

Performers and comedy troupes from the country’s top comedy hotbeds have been invited to perform during the four-day event featuring stand-up, sketch, and improv performers.

RORY SCOVEL'S new Netflix special Rory Scovel Tries Stand-Up for the First Time recently premiered to rave reviews. He costarred in Amy Schumer’s I FEEL PRETTY and appeared in New Line feature THE HOUSE, alongside Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler, as well as THE LEGACY OF A WHITETAIL DEER HUNTER for director Jody Hill alongside Danny McBride and Josh Brolin. Some of his television credits include the TBS series GROUND FLOOR as well as the NBC series UNDATEABLE, ABC’s MODERN FAMILY, F/X’s THE COMEDIANS and the original series THOSE WHO CANT for TruTV. Rory starred alongside Demetri Martin in Demetri’s directorial debut DEAN which premiered at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, and has an hour- stand up special available on Seeso. Rory’s stand up has been featured on Comedy Central, CONAN, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. His second album, RORY SCOVEL LIVE AT THIRD MAN RECORDS, was released in 2013 and was recorded live at their studios in Nashville.

JAMIE LEE is an actress, author and stand-up comedian, currently starring as the female lead in Season 2 of HBO's "Crashing." She formerly wrote on Season 1 of the show as well as "Teachers," "Talk Show: The Game Show" and more. She was a core cast member on the hit MTV series "Girl Code" and was the host of TruTV's "10 Things." As a stand up, she has appeared on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" and "Conan" and, in 2016, Lee released her debut book "Weddiculous" with Harper Collins. Her new stand up album "I Mean..." was released on January 19th to glowing reviews.
